Springfield, Oregon–The Oregon Titans 14A Gonzalez plays their way through the bracket to earn a 2nd place finish in the Oregon State Championship.
Game 1, the Titans made the most out of only 2 hits to edge out the NW Vandals for a 3-2 victory. Hannah Jensen drove in 2 runs with one of those hits and the Titans pushed across another run on a Vandals miscue. Abigail Loomis went 6 innings in the circle for the pitching win.
Game 2, again the Titans didn’t muster much offense and were out hit by the Canby Rebels 8-3, but were still able to push across enough runs for a 7-3 win. Megan Smith drove in 2 runs and the Titans capitalized on some Rebels errors in the 6th inning to secure the victory. Hannah Ebner went 5 innings in the circle and earned the pitching win.
Game 3, the offense showed up for the Titans in this game as they collected 16 hits in a 9-0 win over the Gorge Thunder. Heather Ebner, Hannah Jensen and Abigail Loomis each carded 3 hits, while Naomi Galanti homered. Abigail Loomis went the distance, hurling 7 shut out innings, with 10 strikeouts.
Game 4, the Titans took their first lost of the tournament against NW Bullets Hall and only managed 4 hits as they were shut out 8-0. Hannah Ebner and Abigail Loomis combined in the circle for 5 innings of work.
Game 5, once again the Titans faced off against the Canby Rebels and again it was a close game. The result was the same, but this time it was a 2-1 Titans victory. Megan Smith and Heather Ebner each had a pair of hits. Abigail Loomis went 6 strong innings to earn the win, while Tayha Degrande registered the save and sent the Titans to the Championship game.
Championship Game, the Titans again faced the NW Bullets Hall and again came up short, losing 7-3. The Titans were only able to manage 2 hits, but did score 3 runs, but it wasn’t enough. Hannah Ebner went 5 1/3 innings and Abigail Loomis finished it up.
A second place finish at the Oregon State Championship was a very good tournament run.
